This may very well be due to some ignorance on my part, but it seems that the flip vertically and flip horizontally commands aren't working with text objects.
In particular, trying to flip a text object does nothing. I tried gluing the text object into a compound object and flipping the result, but that didn't work either. The six vertices that describe the boundary of the object appear to flip to a new position, but the text stays the same.
